This blog is co-run by two friends. Below are brief bios for both of us:

My name is Seb and I'm a recent college graduate who majored in psychology. (and I was sort-of a religion major, one course off from finishing!). My primary interests in college were in behavioral neuroscience, evolutionary psychology, and the philosophy of religion. Now, I work in a neuroscience lab primarily focused on visual cognition. I ultimately plan on pursuing a PhD in either human neuroscience or philosophy. You can find me on twitter @NaturalismPanth

I'm Lucas Collier. I'm a high school senior that has had interest in philosophy for years. I used to focus primarily on philosophy of religion, but I've since been gaining interest philosophy of gender and metaphilosophy. I will soon be working part time as a CNA, considering neuroscience, medicine, social work, or politics all as potential career paths. Moral Realism and the Folly of Intuition-based Arguments: A Response to Matthew Adelstein

In this article, I respond to a post on Matthew Adelstein’s blog arguing for moral realism. I am not myself a convinced moral anti-realist, but I’m fairly sympathetic to it, and I do not think that the arguments in Matthew’s post ought to be rhetorically persuasive to an anti-realist or someone who is agnostic on metaethics. Intuitions and Phenomenal Conservatism  Much of Matthew’s case rests on an appeal to intuition. A word of caution is in order about intuition. While I agree that intuition is a defeasible starting point for reasoning, I think we should be far more skeptical of it than many in the ‘pop philosophy’ spaces I occupy are. This is because our scientific picture of the world has consistently shown that many of our intuitive notions are false.
